Let's get started with girl names. The 1960s made a noteworthy comeback in 2010 with Adele, Willa and Mae all joining the Top 1,000 for the first time since 1969, 1962 and 1969 respectively. Even the 1980s and 1990s (doesn't feel that long ago) made a come back with Jolene, Kimber and Farrah, all of which have been absent from the Top 1,000 for over a decade. This is contrasted by some completely modern first timers: Tenley, Elin and Jemma. There are also a couple interesting crossover names that we know as popular boy names and have found their way onto the girl list: Kai, Tegan and Sawyer.
As for the names that dropped off the list last year, the 1970s was a less popular decade - 2010 said goodbye to Tamara and Tanya (and Taniyah and Taniya). Everyone also decided to stick with Marley like the book and nix Marleigh and Marlie. Janice fell off after making a quick comeback last year and the pop cultural influence of Salma Hayek's filmography has come to a close as seen by the loss of Frida.
