Stuff People Google 74

Another week, another bizarre phrase that someone googled.

shop key boob

Am I just not in the know?  Does everyone research and keep up with "shop key boobs"?  Does this have something to do with a Halloween costume (it was googled the week of October 22nd)?  Please explain, someone.

Stuff People Google 73

What is this week's edition of Stuff People Google about?!!

hot process soap cupcakes

This scares me.  I have a feeling it has something to do with cooking meth.  Have I watched too many HBO/Showtime series?

Stuff People Google 72

I was truly baffled by today's edition of Stuff People Google:

louis borgenicht baby ägarmanual

The non-English words were the primary source of confusion.  The word "baby" made me hopeful that the search was appropriate for NSB, but I didn't know.  So, I googled it...of course.  Turns out that Louis Borgenicht is the co-author of The Baby Owner's Manual: Operating Guide.

I don't own it, so I can't vouch.
Check out Amazon.com reviews here.

Still a little confused as to why the typist wrote half in English and half in (what I believe to be) Swedish.  But, that's neither here or there.  Very excited to welcome Swedish readers/followers!  Come back anytime.

Stuff People Google 71

Today's edition of Stuff People Google isn't a total bizarre phrase, I don't think.

maternity belly donut

I've never heard of a maternity belly donut, but I think I can imagine what it is - a donut shaped pillow that fits a pregnant woman's belly bump so she can lay on her stomach.  Um, is that a crazy guess?  Does anyone know what a maternity belly donut actually is???

Stuff People Google 70

Today's edition of Stuff People Google brought the typist here based on one, very old, very interesting post.  First, the phrase:

pregnant cake with foot

The related post was part of a series of caption contests that I hosted on NSB.  I don't do the caption contests anymore, but I vividly remember each photo.  The image below is from Caption Contest Dos.

This cake was featured on Cakewrecks.com and freaked me out the first time I saw it.  Actually, it still freaks me out.

Stuff People Google 69

It would have been appropriate to have a sexually charged phrase for today's edition of Stuff People Google.  It's the 69th edition after all.  But, no one has grossed me out (in that way) lately.  Well, truth be told there have been a few search phrases involving teenagers and meatholes...but they crossed the line for me.

Instead, to celebrate the 69th edition of Stuff People Google, I'll give you some old favorites that have creepy sexual undertones and then reveal today's totally non-sexual phrase.

(I think the most disturbing edition of all time)

And now, today's edition:

the baby partridge are so cute

What or who are the baby partridge?  And, elementary schools seriously need to add grammar lessons back to the curriculum.

Stuff People Google 68

Today's edition of Stuff People Google made me laugh:

worst hat ever

And then it made me curious as to what hat the typist found on Next Stop Baby as a result of the search!

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about Name That Bump 2.  I will give you the answer later today.  Any last guesses?  Any guesses at all?

Stuff People Google 67

After almost nixing Stuff People Google (here), all the crazies started searching some freaky phrases.  Awesome.

who is the muscular chick with the lisp...

This may be one of my favorite editions of Stuff People Google ever.  The "..." is because I'm actually unable to determine what comes after "lisp", yet I know there was more.  When I see the phrases that people search and ultimately end up at Next Stop Baby, sometimes the phrases are too long for the Google Blogger machine to show me them in their entirety.  Instead, Google Blogger gives me the beginning of the phrase and then an ellipsis to keep me guessing.  There's no way to learn the rest of the phrase.  Blast!  This has never happened before with a Stuff People Google phrase, until today.

What do you think the typist wrote after lisp???  Check back later for the 2nd edition of Name That Bump.

Stuff People Google 66 (and Name That Bump)

WOOHOO - Stuff People Google is back this week with the following slightly bizarre phrase:

cute photos of childs on balcony

There's the obvious grammar issue and there's the weird substance.  Why would one want cute photographs of children on a balcony?  I can't think of a reasonable answer to this question.  What I do know is why the typist landed on Next Stop Baby - a photograph of Michael Jackson holding his son Blanket over the edge of a balcony from a past post (here).

Now - Let's also talk about Tuesday's preliminary edition of Name That Bump.  Let's first review the headless photo first:

Now, here is the reveal:

Nicole Richie!!!

I got some feedback via comments and offline conversation (with friends and family who called and said things like - that's such a weird headless photo, who the hell is that, there's no way I could tell just from the photo).   Going forward, I'm going to incorporate "Name That Bump" editions as a Next Stop Baby staple (haven't decided how often that will happen).  The photo created intrigue, if not a bit of frustration, which is a good thing.  But, I'll also include a couple hints to give everyone a realistic chance of guessing the momma-to-be.

Have a great weekend.

A Farewell to Stuff People Google?

So, you may have noticed that for the first time since my April trip to the Caribbean, I didn't post a weekly edition of Stuff People Google last Friday.  That's because I didn't have a phrase to post!!!  I haven't come across something fun and interesting in a while and I didn't want to post something totally boring like "rainbow baby nursery" or "how much to spend on coworker baby shower".

It was a quagmire that I wrestled with all last week.  Then Friday was upon me and I had zero plan of action.  So, Friday came and went and I didn't even address it.  Not a highly professional way to deal with the issue.

What's worse is that I still haven't come across anything interesting to post for this Friday....or any future Friday to come.  I'm hoping some weird people find Next Stop Baby over the next couple days.  If not, I'm temporarily putting Stuff People Google on hold.  I have no other option!

Meanwhile I'm considering a new weekly series of posts.  The front runner of the moment is "Name That Bump".  Here's how it will work: I post a photo of a headless pregnant lady, you guess the pregnant lady.  Exhibit A:

Do you know who this lady is?  More importantly, would you be interested in participating in this fun game once a week?

Stuff People Google 66

At first, I wast a huge fan of today's edition of Stuff People Google.

pregnant women are rude

In my experience, people are rude to pregnant women and not the other way around.  People are especially rude to pregnant women on the subway (more on that here).  But, there are two sides to every story, yes?  So, I racked my brain for an example of a particularly rude pregnant woman.  BAM - Gisele Bundchen.  If my memory serves me, Mrs. Tom Brady was full of misguided quotes during her first pregnancy, which included an assertion that it should be illegal not to breastfeed.

How else are pregnant women rude?  Do they swing their bellies around like weapons?  Steal snacks in the office place?  Cut ahead in long lines?  I thought line cutting was primarily occupied by a sector the senior population...yes, I've gone ahead and said something colorful about the senior population once again.  I wonder if there will be a backlash like last time.  For those who don't remember the last time I said something remotely unkind about the senior population (here), I suffered the wrath of one very angry commenter.

Stuff People Google 65

Today's edition of Stuff People Google likely brought the typist to Next Stop Baby thanks to one of my most popular posts of all time.  First, here's the phrase:

people who named their kid katniss

It's not the craziest or grossest phrase I've shared.  Rather, I think I googled these exact words at some point last year when I was writing the highly popular post I referenced: Katniss Is Not a Real Name.  I was taken aback by how popular that post was (and still is).

Many people challenged my assertion...that Katniss is not a real name.  There are comments that 1) Katniss IS a real name and 2) many popular names having been derived from characters in famous works of fiction.  My opinion was swayed by all the comments, but only slightly.  I still have yet to meet someone named Katniss or even hear of someone named Katniss.  So, I'm holding firm that Katniss is not a real name until that happens.  I'm curious as to whether the typist of today's phrase found an answer to his or her question.

Stuff People Google 64

Perverted phrases are common place in the weekly edition of Stuff People Google.  Today is no exception.

boob enjoyment

I really don't have a comment.

Stuff People Google 63

Last week's edition of Stuff People Google (here) featured a search phrase about an 80's fashion trend.  This week's edition features a search phrase about a 90's fashion trend.

birkenstock sandals and socks

Well, Birkenstock sandals were a big 90's fashion trend (and coming back I should add...more on that in a second), but it was never trendy to wear them with socks.  Right?  In fact, it's never fashionable to wear any sandals with any socks.

Here are the Birkenstocks of the 90s (below)

Stuff People Google 62

Today's edition of Stuff People Google is GREAT.

monogrammed coolots

I will never know who searched this phrase.  Yet, I will always admire the person who searched this phrase.  I'm happy that this searcher found Next Stop Baby, though I know that they didn't find monogrammed coolots on Next Stop Baby.

For those who don't know what coolots are, let me assist:

Those are black and white coolots.
They are trying to being current in a hipster-ish way,
but I know coolots when I see them.

Coolots are not current.  Coolots are a fashion joy of the 1980s.  They are flowy shorts that are both high-waisted and awkwardly long (aka flattering on everyone no one).

Stuff People Google 60

How friggin funny:

is the host from pregnant in heels always pregnant?

Today's edition of Stuff People Google is just awesome.  Rosie Pope, the host in question, has been pregnant now for 2 seasons in a row (with her second son and her first daughter).  Oh, and the show itself has only been on Bravo for 2 seasons.  So, it's a fair question.  Is her pregnancy staged for the show?  Does Bravo only film when she's with child?  Or is the timing just magical perfect for a show about pregnancy and babies?  I'm fairly certain that it's the latter - she's just a baby crazy lady (like myself) who not only owns a maternity clothing line and runs baby/Lamaze/parenting classes, but also wants a full house of baby Popes.

Stuff People Google 59

Today's search phrase cracks me up:

big meal looks pregnant

My guess is that the typist wanted some pointers on distinguishing between someone who looks pregnant (perhaps from a big meal) and someone who is pregnant with a baby.  In the early stages of pregnancy, appearances can be deceiving.  Rule of thumb, however, is that if you're not sure that someone is pregnant do not say anything.  Do not.  The pregnant person has to be well past the "big meal" stage before it's appropriate to acknowledge the pregnancy.

Stuff People Google 58

Today's search phrase confused me.

baby blanket pucking

At first I thought the typist had intended to type "baby blanket puking", but accidentally added the "c".  I assumed it was a search about cleaning baby vomit out of a blanket.  Seemed like a viable explanation.  For kicks, I googled the exact phrase to see if my theory held up.  It sort of did.  Yes, the 2nd highest result involved puking and blankets, but the top result did not (nor did any of the other results that I care to scroll through.  The top result was for CafePress.com where a whole mess of hockey themed baby blankets are sold.  Hmmm.  But,  if this is what someone was looking for wouldn't the word "hockey" be a better search choice than "pucking"?  The mystery continues...

Stuff People Google 57

Who knows what today's edition of Stuff People Google means without looking it up?

natakar

There are a host of things to discuss about the word natakar.  First, it's Slovenian.  Second, it means waiter.  Perhaps there's another definition that I'm unaware of (likely) because who uses Google to look up the word "waiter", whether in English, Slovenian or any other language?  There must be a more interesting story behind this strange word.  Third, how pray tell did the typist find Next Stop Baby by typing the word "natakar" into Google???

PS - Next Tuesday (6/26/12) on NSB will be an awesome, awesome giveaway!!!  I haven't done a giveaway in a while, this one will be worth the wait.
